Be YOU!

“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It Just Blooms” ~ Zen Shim

Aahhhh the comparison trap! As women we are especially guilty of this. We often find ourselves measuring how successful or how pretty we are by looking at the other women around us. I know, I do it too ya’ll!

As a child I stood out with my red hair and freckles.

I hated it. I tried everything I could to go unnoticed.

I constantly would look at other girls with jealousy and wish I had their hair or their skin or their talents.

It wasn’t until after I had my two children that I began to learn to accept the person that God made me to be and to actually love myself for who I am. I am unique and I have so much to offer the world by being ME. How freeing it is to accept yourself for who you really are! But I have to be honest with you…I still do it! I still fall into the comparison trap and find myself feeling that I don’t measure up in certain areas.

The thing is, it is so easy for you and I to get stuck in comparing ourselves and our lives to other people. Thanks social media!

We see our friends and our colleagues posting their beautiful pictures of themselves and their life and we think that they must have it all together, but the reality is many times what you are seeing isn’t an accurate reflection of their life. And even if it is, many times you don’t know all the work that took to get to that point.

Comparison is a huge trap that sucks you in and doesn’t want to let you go! Whether you are trying to build your business, trying to manage your home, trying to get promoted at work or just trying to be happy in life, comparing yourself to others is a bad toxic habit!!

The only person you should be comparing yourself to is YOU. Look at yesterday, last week, last month, last year…are you a better person, mother, boss, employee, wife, girlfriend than you were then? Be in competition with yourself to be better and to achieve what you want by looking at your own progress and by measuring your own progress and not someone else’s progress or achievements.

So be easy on yourself. LOVE yourself. ACCEPT yourself. Stay focused on YOUR dreams, YOUR goals and YOUR destination. You are special, you are blessed and you have so much to offer the world!

And finally, be kind, love on one another and encourage the other women in your life. A little bit of love and encouragement goes a long way!
